Ordering through the UCSF procurement system allows the enterprise to aggregate all AWS accounts and receive discounts on AWS resources and most/all egress fees waived.

For hosting applications with protected health information (PHI) and/or restricted data in the cloud, you are responsible for complying with UCSF security policies and procedures, including compliance with Privacy Office, Legal Affairs, and Risk Management (PLR). UCSF provides a Secure AWS Container for hosting PHI-using applications that fit a select number of use cases. For such projects, you can save time and costs by leveraging the existing Business Associate Agreement (BAA) between UCSF and AWS, and utilizing shared administrative resources for security and operational compliance.  Other benefits of using UCSF’s AWS environment include a straightforward IT security assessment and PLR review.
